**Biden and Trump Set for Atlanta Debate in June**
President Joe Biden and former President Donald Trump are scheduled to face off in a highly anticipated debate in Atlanta this June. The event promises to be a significant moment in the political calendar, bringing together the two leading figures of the Democratic and Republican parties. This debate is expected to cover a wide range of pressing issues and set the tone for the upcoming election cycle.
CNN confirmed in a May 15 press release that the earliest presidential debate in history will take place on June 27. This announcement followed former President Donald Trump's acceptance of President Joe Biden's invitation for two debates in June and September.
The debate will be held at CNN’s studios in Atlanta, Georgia, a crucial battleground state for the November election. To ensure candidates can fully utilize their allotted time, there will be no audience present.
Before CNN's confirmation, President Biden posted on X, stating he had accepted CNN’s invitation and added, "Over to you, Donald. As you said: anywhere, any time, any place."
CNN's press release mentioned that details about moderators and other specifics would be announced later.
Earlier on Wednesday, the Biden Campaign sent a letter to the Commission on Presidential Debates, stating the president would not participate in the commission’s planned debates and favored earlier debates before early voting begins in many states. The Trump Campaign had similarly expressed a preference for earlier debates in a letter to the commission in April.
While President Trump indicated he preferred a large audience, both campaigns have agreed to the no-audience format for the CNN debate.
